Empowering Athletes for a Life Without Limits

Championship results

Hosted by the University of New Brunswick at the Irving Oil Field House, the 2022 U SPORTS Championships did not disappoint! Not to mention what made this year even more special is that after having to continue training through various lockdowns and have a cancelled season last year due to COVID-19, each and every athlete showed up and performed to the best of their ability.

If you weren’t already aware, U SPORTS is the national governing body of university sport in Canada and holds both a cross-country and indoor track and field season. So this past weekend, March 31st - April 2nd 2022, was the culmination of months of training and hard work; the pinnacle of U SPORTS athletics within track and field.

Over the three day competition, athletes constantly pushed themselves; putting their bodies on the line, coming away with personal bests, points for their respective teams and the occasional U SPORTS record.

In the end, the Guelph Gryphons came out on top on both the men’s and women’s side, capturing the U SPORTS national title for a fourth consecutive season. This is the 8th national title for the men and 6th national title for the women.

The women finished with 123.5 points, 47.5 points ahead of the second place team, the Saskatchewan Huskies (76) and 54.5 points ahead of the third place team, the Western Mustangs. On the men's side it was a nail-biter ending! The Gryphons won with a total of 97 points, edging out the Toronto Varsity Blues (86) and the Western Mustangs (61).
