Contacting a coach from your Wishlist

You can start a conversation with a program yourself from your Wishlist. Your note goes to the coach who recruits your events, from you, through Streamline Athletes. To decide which programs deserve a note, read How to Build a Target List and Email Coaches.

Before you start

  • Your profile must be at 100%. See Getting your profile to 100%.
  • Your college entry year must be current. If you see "Update your college entry year to send.", select Update entry year and fix it in About Me.
  • You can contact any program at any time. Coaches follow their association's rules on when they can reply: NCAA Division I coaches can't start recruiting conversations until June 15 after your grade 10 year, and Division II coaches can message athletes of any age.

Sending an email to a coach

  1. Open your Wishlist and select Contact Coach on the program's card.
  2. Finish the sentence "I'm interested in [program] because…" in a couple of full sentences. Be specific about why this program.
  3. Pick up to three verified PRs to lead with.
  4. Add anything else you'd like the coach to know. This is optional.
  5. Leave "If the coach doesn't answer, send these follow-ups in my name" ticked if you want us to follow up for you. Follow-ups stop the moment the coach responds.
  6. Select Send.

The coach gets your note, your best performances, a short summary about you and a link to your profile. Coaches only get your email and phone number if they select Interested. If they do, we email you both together. Select Reply all (reply to everyone on the email) to keep the conversation going.

How many coaches you can contact

Starting a conversation with a coach is part of Plus. On Essentials, the free plan, the button reads Upgrade to Plus instead of Contact Coach. Plus doesn't limit how many coaches you contact in total, but it limits how many conversations you have open at once, and a spot opens when one of your requests closes. When you reach your limit, the button changes to Request more contacts, which emails our support team. See streamlineathletes.com/pricing for current plans.

Coaches can contact you on every plan, Essentials included, and programs contacting you never count toward this limit.

"We don't recommend you contact this program"

This means your performances don't meet the program's recruiting standards yet. Select See details to see why. The Conference-Impact Lens explains how to judge where your PRs fit a program.
